01Two-bounce rule+

The serve must bounce. The return must bounce. After those two bounces, either team may volley or play off a bounce.

02The kitchen+

You may stand in the non-volley zone and play a bounced ball. You may not volley while touching it, its line, or while momentum carries you into it.

03The serve+

Serve diagonally into the opposite service court. The ball must clear the kitchen and land inside the correct court.

04Scoring+

Traditional side-out games are commonly played to 11, win by 2. Only the serving side scores under this format.

05Line calls+

A ball touching a boundary line is in, except a serve touching the kitchen line is a fault because that line belongs to the kitchen.
